In the medical field, the allograft is the transplantation of tissue from one individual to another of the same species. The transplanted tissue is called the allograft or allogeneic graft. The word allograft (allogeneic) comes from two Greek words: allo meaning different or other, and graft meaning to implant. The word “alloplastic” comes from the Greek word “allos”, meaning other, and “plastikos”, meaning mouldable.
